Aim

NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook and the spirit of adventure amongst young citizens

  • To create human resource of organized ,trained and motivated youth
  • To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the armed forces

The college has one NCC Unit under 7 Kerala Girls Bn .NCC with 56 cadets. The unit conducts various activities and motivates cadets to participate in various programmes and activities in tune with motto of NCC. NCC cadets has participated in Republic Day Parade at New Delhi, Tal Sainik Camp at New Delhi and various National Camps. NCC unit of the college strives to move forward by organizing events to enhance the spirit of patriotism, nationalism and secularism.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. The motto of National Service Scheme is "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the student’s development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well- being of the society.

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:

  • Understand the community in which they work
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • Gain skills in mobilising community participation
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
  • Practise national integration and social harmony

National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969, and the first NSS unit in our college was started in the year1973as Unit no.44 and with the increasing number of volunteers a second unit was sanctioned by the university in the year 2013 as unit no.220. As the whole we have 100 volunteers in two units. As per the guidelines the NSS volunteers should complete 240 hours of regular works and a seven day special camping which is necessary for the successful completion of volunteer ship. Being an active member these student volunteers would have the exposure and experience to be the following: an accomplished social leader, an efficient administrator, a person who understands human nature.
