As part of the Christmas celebrations, St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, organized a Greeting Card Competition to encourage creativity and artistic expression among students. The competition was conducted with the theme “Christmas”, emphasizing originality and handmade design

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who showcased their creativity, imagination, and festive spirit through vibrant and thoughtful designs. The competition not only nurtured artistic skills but also promoted the joy and values of Christmas.

The programme was coordinated by the student and staff coordinators with the support of the department and college administration, making it a meaningful and engaging activity as part of the festive celebrations

The PG & Research Department of Mathematics, St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, organized an invited talk on “Career Pathways in Math” on 08 December 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hall.

The session was led by Jomy P. L, an educator and mathematics enthusiast, who provided valuable insights into the diverse academic, professional, and research-oriented career opportunities available for students of mathematics. The talk highlighted emerging career options, interdisciplinary applications of mathematics, and the importance of analytical thinking in today’s job market.

Students actively participated in the interactive session, seeking guidance on higher studies, competitive examinations, teaching careers, and industry-based roles. The programme proved to be highly beneficial, motivating students to explore mathematics beyond the classroom and to plan their career paths with clarity and confidence.

In connection with National Mathematics Day, the PG & Research Department of Mathematics, St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, organized an invited talk titled “The Mathematics of Inspiration: Remembering Ramanujan” on 22 December 2025 at Jubilee Hall.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with ‘Bodhayanam’ Marian Centre for IKS – Bharatiya Vijnana Kendra, aiming to highlight the life, legacy, and mathematical contributions of the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.

The invited talk was delivered by Smt. K. L. Swarna, Retired Associate Professor, Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur, who shared insightful perspectives on Ramanujan’s inspirational journey, his intuitive approach to mathematics, and his lasting impact on modern mathematical thought.

The session witnessed active participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students, fostering a deeper appreciation for India’s mathematical heritage. The event reaffirmed the department’s commitment to academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and the promotion of mathematical awareness among the academic community.

The Department of Zoology and Botany of St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, inaugurated the Butterfly Eco Park and Conservation Centre on 10th November 2025 at the State Museum and Zoo, Thrissur. The programme marked the formal inauguration and setting up of a dedicated Garden of Butterfly Eco Park, aimed at conserving indigenous butterfly species and promoting environmental awareness.

The initiative is a collaborative venture between St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, and the State Museum and Zoo, Thrissur. Designed as a natural habitat for native butterflies, the eco park focuses on biodiversity conservation, ecological education, and hands-on learning opportunities for students and the public.

The project reflects the institution’s commitment to sustainability, conservation research, and community engagement. By creating a safe and nurturing environment for indigenous butterflies, the Butterfly Eco Park stands as a significant step towards preserving local ecosystems and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.

The Department of Psychology, in association with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), is organizing a session on “Problem Solving and Ideation Workshop” by Ms. Sneha Ouseph, Marie Curie Cofund Touch Doctoral Researcher, on 20 November 2025 at 10:00 AM in St. Chavara Seminar Hall.

The title is "Biodiversity Seminar 2025: Fostering a Harmonious Relationship Between Humanity and Nature" and it described a two-day national seminar hosted by St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, in October 2025, organized by the Department of Applied Biotechnology with focus areas like plant, animal, and microbial biodiversity, conservation, sustainable development goals, and indigenous knowledge systems.

The Department of Social Work at St. Mary's College (Autonomous), Thrissur, successfully conducted a two-day Creative Theatre Workshop titled "OPEN FRAME."

The enriching workshop took place on September 19 and 20, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM on both days.

Praveen Narayan, Director of PLAY PATIO, served as the Workshop Guide, leading participants through various creative and theatrical exercises. The event provided a platform for participants to explore new dimensions of expression and performance.

The initiative was a collaborative effort, organized with support from Rotary Club Thrissur and Rotaract, and was held in association with PLAY PATIO Theatre. The workshop concluded successfully, contributing to the college's cultural and academic engagement activities.

The Department of Social Work, St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, celebrated its Association Day on 18th September 2025 at Jubilee Hall. The event commenced at 9:00 AM and featured Dr. Smijo Sebastian, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences, Kakkanad, as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Smijo led an insightful session on “Research Methodology”, where he shared valuable perspectives on the fundamentals of research, data analysis, and ethical approaches to academic inquiry. The interactive session helped students gain a deeper understanding of research processes and their applications in social work practice.

The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Sr. Meena K. Cheruvathur, Principal of the College, and was coordinated by Mr. Joshi Kurian C, Head of the Department, and Ms. Hyma K. M, Faculty Coordinator
